Susan Andree, MS, NCC, LPC-S (she/her)
There are times when life throws experiences your way that require extra support and care. I help you break down roadblocks that keep you from having fulfilling and loving relationships with yourself and others. I work with people who experience anxiety, depression, behavior issues, trauma, grief & loss, divorce, abandonment, and attachment & adjustment challenges.
Psychotherapy is a process in which we discuss areas of concern to better understand the sources of issues with which you are struggling. This helps you make sense of your life experiences so you can move forward the calmer, more joyful, and fulfilled individual we are all meant to be.
Personal growth can be uncomfortable or even downright painful, but I will support and empower you to achieve the life you want. I have specialized experience in adoption, couples counseling, individuals with anxiety, depression, and peer relationship issues. I am an inclusive provider; welcoming LGBTQ+ and any ethnicity.
Amy Cox, MS, NCC, PLPC, CTMH-A (She/her)
It sometimes feels easier to seek support for physical challenges than for emotional ones, especially if we are used to thinking that we should be able to handle our feelings and challenges on our own. It can feel intimidating and stressful to reach out for help when you may not have the words for the challenge you’re facing. I want you to know that you are not alone. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Just as we take swimming lessons before going into the deep end of a pool, we all need help navigating the deepest challenges of life.
The majority of my work focuses on helping children, teens, and adults navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I partner with you to help you better understand your challenges, practice self-compassion, and develop insight and tools to support your personal goals.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered. I will meet you where you are, with compassion and acceptance. I will support you as a whole person, not simply a struggle or problem.
My Approach with Children
I use an integrated Play Therapy approach with children ages 3-10 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. As Dr. Gary Landreth, one of the foremost clinicians in Child-Centered Play Therapy says, “Toys are children’s words, and play is their language.” The special relationship in play therapy creates a safe space for each child to feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted as they use play to process their challenges, heal, and grow. Since children are part of a family system, their parents/caregivers are the most powerful influences on their development, I partner with each child’s parent(s)/caregiver(s) to help add to their parent-child relationship and help them learn additional effective ways to support their child.
My Credentials
I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health counseling, and am currently a Registered Play Therapist in Training (RPTT). I am also a certified AutPlay provider, trained in how to tailor Play Therapy to tue unique needs of neurodivergent children (children with ADHD, Autism, and other exceptionalities). Additionally, I am a Certified ADHD Clinical Service Provider-in training, which means I have specialized training in the most updated research and advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and interventions for individuals with ADHD to support their needs at any stage of development. I am currently provisionally licensed (PLPC) and work under the supervision of Susan Andree, LPC, NCC (owner of Hawthorne Counseling).
Services and Fees
I offer both in-person and online counseling for adults, and in-person counseling for children and teens. I do not currently accept insurance. I can provide a Superbill, which you may submit to your insurance provider to seek reimbursement. I do accept cash, all major credit cards, check, Health Savings Account debits, and Flexible Spending Account debits. I invite you to reach out and move forward in your healing today.
